Myanmar: Project Coordinator

Background

MONTROSE is an international development project management and consultancy company providing support to clients operating in the developing world. Specialised in the sectors of health, education, rural livelihoods and private sector development, our clients include bilateral and multilateral development agencies, the private sector, Non-Governmental Organisations and other development stakeholders. Montrose designs and implements bespoke programmes for a range of clients across the Africa and the Asia-Pacific. Currently Montrose’s Asia-Pacific office is implementing a range of projects including social investment programmes for private sector clients, a multi-country open data programme and numerous evaluations in health and education sectors.

Montrose is seeking a full time Project Coordinator based in our Yangon office to support the successful implementation of our ongoing projects and provide inputs and support to our technical work. The successful candidate for this position will have some project management experience, be eager to learn and grow with the company, demonstrate flexibility, creativity and initiative.

Core Responsibilities

· Support the project management team in designing and managing cost-effective and high quality project implementation

· Contribute to the development of project strategy, direction and theory of change

· Manage discreet projects using a combination of creative thinking and Montrose project management tools

· Identify opportunities to improve project implementation and proactively identify potential gaps

· Draft, review and proofread technical and programme delivery reports

· Develop communications materials for marketing and advocacy purposes

· Develop training materials for, coordinate and take part in the facilitation of workshops

· Become familiar with and contribute to technical delivery of projects

· Design, coordinate and take part in community engagement activities in strategic field locations

· Proactively establish new relationships, as well as maintain existing networks, with strategic civil society organisations and extractives industry

· Where applicable represent Montrose on working groups to support the achievement of project goals

· Manage consultants and ensure compliance with Montrose and client deliverables and expectations

Essential Skills and Qualifications

· Excellent written and spoken English

· Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Three years' work experience in project management of development projects

· Exceptional written and oral communication skills

· Yangon-based

· Experience in one of the following areas: communications and marketing, advocacy, extractives industry, environment, community engagement

· Demonstrated problem solving skills, initiative and creative thinking

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

· Experience in drafting and managing project budgets

· Experience managing consultants and liaising with client representatives

· Experience of policy and advocacy work including tools such as power analysis/mapping

· Understanding of Myanmar political landscape

· Established networks within civil society, government, extractives industry a
