Purpose of the Consultancy
Montrose is looking for highly skilled Education experts experienced in either (i) curriculum and textbook development or; (ii) quantitative or qualitative research, monitoring and evaluation work to provide support in the execution of Montrose Education sector projects in a variety of countries including – but not limited to – Uganda, South Sudan, Sierra Leone and Myanmar.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
Consultants must have experience in any of the following areas
Experience in curriculum development including:
- Working with governments to develop syllabi
- Working with subject-specific teams to develop national curriculum
- Developing teaching and learning materials, lesson plans and associated assessments
Leading or participating in the delivery of longitudinal studies, research pieces and short-term assessments including:
- Experience in developing data collection tools for various assessments including Early Grade Reading and Mathematics assessments (EGRA/EGMA)
- Experience in writing or supporting the writing of inception, evaluation and research study reports to the highest technical quality
- Experience in the analysis of qualitative data
Supporting, facilitating or co-facilitate trainings including enumerator trainings
Leading on the quantitative component of project data collection exercises including
- Leading the development of the sampling frameworks, determining the sample size (number of schools and students to be interviewed etc)
- Rendering data collection tools including EGRA/EGMA on Tangerine. Desirable skills include ODK programming skills for Survey CTO, Kobo or any other data collection software
- Leading the training of enumerators in the use of tablets and Tangerine to carry out learner assessments while in the field
Excellent data cleaning, and analysis skills using appropriate statistical software and writing
Experience with integrating cross cutting issues such as gender, disability and social inclusion in projects
Experience in leading or supporting on USAID, UNICEF, DFID, UNESCO funded projects
Desirable experience working on the DFID funded Girls’ Education Challenge
Experience working in Africa and Asia-pacific
Others
- Ability to lead and/or work within a team
- Ability to travel for work
